Recorded during the same sessions as Kid A but emerging in 2001 as its darker, jazz-inflected twin, Amnesiac is Radiohead’s most enigmatic puzzle. Where its predecessor embraced icy electronics, this album slinks through smoky clubs ("Life in a Glasshouse"’s woozy brass) and dystopian nightmares ("Pyramid Song"’s haunting piano). Yorke’s voice—a ghost in the machine—whispers of paranoia ("Knives Out") and digital decay ("Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors"). The band’s refusal to include "True Love Waits" (finally released in 2016) only deepened its mystique. A cult favorite among fans who prefer their Radiohead unsettling and unresolved, Amnesiac proves that even their "B-sides" redefine what rock music can be.
