🇬🇧 A RARE AND SAVAGE EP FROM THE GODFATHERS OF GRIND

Released in 1997, "Breed To Breathe" marks one of Napalm Death’s most important transitions. Coming right after “Diatribes” and before the explosive “Inside The Torn Apart”, this EP shows the band experimenting boldly while retaining their trademark brutality. The title track became a fan favorite because of its mix of high-speed grind, massive groove sections, and Barney’s furious vocal delivery. Interestingly, the EP was initially intended as a studio test session for new production techniques — but the material was so strong that Earache decided to release it as a standalone record.



This EU first edition contains exclusive tracks, including alternative mixes and unreleased versions that were never reprinted. Many collectors consider this EP a bridge between the raw grindcore years and the more technical, structured direction the band explored at the end of the 90s. Shane Embury has often cited this period as "the band’s rebirth”, and fans in Europe discovered these songs live during a tour so intense that some venues refused to host Napalm Death again due to the violent mosh pits.

Sorti en 1997, “Breed To Breathe” représente un moment clé dans l’évolution de Napalm Death. Placé entre “Diatribes” et “Inside The Torn Apart”, cet EP montre le groupe en pleine mutation : toujours aussi féroce, mais plus inventif et précis. Le morceau-titre est devenu un incontournable grâce à son mélange de grind survolté, de sections lourdes et d’un chant d’une agressivité impressionnante. Fait étonnant : cet EP devait à l’origine servir de simple session de test en studio, mais le résultat était tellement puissant qu’Earache a décidé d’en faire une sortie officielle.



Cette première édition EU inclut des versions alternatives et des mixes rares, jamais réédités ensuite. Beaucoup de collectionneurs considèrent ce disque comme un lien essentiel entre la période grindcore pure et l’approche plus technique adoptée par le groupe à la fin des années 90. Shane Embury décrit même cette ère comme "une renaissance du groupe". Lors de la tournée européenne, les concerts étaient tellement intenses que certaines salles refusaient de les reprogrammer !
