Released in 1993, "Wide River" marked Steve Miller’s return to recording after an eight-year hiatus. The bluesy title track channels his early psychedelic roots with smooth guitar licks and laid-back vocals, while "I Want to Make the World Turn Around" revisits his 80s pop-rock polish. Though lacking the commercial punch of "The Joker" or "Abracadabra," the album reflects Miller’s enduring love for Delta blues ("Crossroads" cover) and radio-ready hooks. A nostalgic bridge between eras, it pleased longtime fans but struggled to reclaim his 70s heyday’s spotlight. A solid, if overlooked, entry in his catalog.
